Treasurer Richard Moore’s Ad Goes Too Far…

Published by Jeff | Filed under Politics

I saw the most recent Richard Moore for Governor ad this morning criticizing Bev. Perdue for a vote 21 years ago related to hate groups. This ad goes way too far and is race-baiting in my opinion. I have appreciated Sec. Moore’s work as NC Treasurer, but he just lost a potential supporter. That ad should be pulled immediately.

Here is Rep. Alma Adams response defending Lt. Gov. Perdue.

A Thank You to Republican Commissioner Linda Shaw

I sent Linda an email yesterday appreciating her stand against the airing of an anti-Barack Obama ad going on the air Monday by the NC Republican Party.

Linda has been attentive and supportive of many changes in the Guilford County Register of Deeds office.  I appreciate all elected officials, Democrat or Republican, who take a stand against negative campaign advertising.  This is one of the worst I’ve seen in a while.  There is one other….

Wayne Goodwin for Commissioner of Insurance

Published by Jeff | Filed under State Government, Politics

I believe Wayne is prepared and experienced and will do a great job as Commissioner of Insurance in North Carolina. He has served in the NC General Assembly. His wife, Melanie Wade Goodwin is currrently serving in the General Assembly. They have a daughter Madison and are expecting their second child soon. Please read a biography of Wayne Goodwin from a previous campaign.

Please give him your support and vote in the May Primary!

Wow. No opposition!

I’ve been in shock the past few days.

Filing closed on Friday at noon and I survived unopposed. For whatever reason…great changes in our office, good press, or just plain disinterest by the public, I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve another term as Guilford County Register of Deeds.  I was reflecting on Friday that I’ve never had a pass on anything and this was truly an unexpected surprise.

There is still much work to be completed.

Customer Service. Performance. E-Recording. Redaction. Cross-Training. Move to the BB and T building.

I’ll certainly have much to focus on…. Thanks to the citizens of Guilford County.

Human Cloning? Science meets Morality

US scientist clones himself from skin cells

“Samuel Wood, a researcher at Stemagen Corporation in La Jolla, California, plucked cells from his skin and injected them into donated eggs that had been treated to remove their own genetic material. The eggs developed into very early stage embryos that were genetically identical to the scientist’s own DNA.”

The closely held company hopes to make embryos that are clones, or genetic twins, of patients, then harvest stem cells from those embryos and grow them into replacement tissues.

Company claims cloned humans and made stem cells.

IOWA: John Edwards and the Myth of the Self-Made Man

“Some people come from nothing to being wildly successful and their response is, ‘I did this on my own.’ I came to a different conclusion. I believe that I did work hard, and I think people should work hard, but I think my country was there for me every step of the way.

A new Iowa poll, released yesterday of likely Democratic caucus goers, shows John Edwards moving into the lead with just six days left. The Lee Enterprises newspapers poll shows John and Barack Obama at 29 percent each and Hillary Clinton at 28 percent, with 19 percent of Democrats still making up their minds.

John has moved up 5 points in just two weeks.
